The Trojan War was waged against the city of Troy by Achaeans after Paris of Troy took Helen from her husband Menelaos, king of Sparta. The hero Achilles, the son of the mortal Peleus, and Thetis, an immortal sea nymph, is the greatest Greek warrior in the story of the Trojan War; the plot of Homer's Iliad is driven by Achilles' anger.
