As no settlement structures were found, Göbekli Tepe has the role of a mere sanctuary. The finds from the site corroborate this, as the lithic inventory comprises a wide range of projectile points.

ANTANDROS

There are several conflicting traditions that circulated in antiquity regarding the foundation of Antandros. According to the Lesbian poet Alcaeos, Antandros was founded by the Leleges.

ASSOS

The Athena Temple, which was constructed during the Archaic Period (540-530 BC) on top of the Assos acropolis, is the only example in Anatolia in the Doric order.

STRATONIKEIA

While travelling to Milas and Bodrum from Yatağan by car, you encounter a small hill in the 7th km called Kadıkulesi, both sides of which are full of ornamented marbles, the silent eyewitnesses of history.

MAGNESIA AD MAEANDRUM

Magnesia was established by a tribe called the Magnetes, which came from Thessaly. The Magnetes entered Anatolia through Crete under the command of the legendary leader named Leukippos, and by means of Apollo’s divination landed around Samsun Mountain and at modern Lake Bafa, which was a small bay at that time.

Yeşilova Höyük, situated in the prehistoric residential area of Izmir, is a center that is completely buried under silt.
