The book is a self-presentation on what is known today about the life story of Kibyra, an ancient city in the southwestern part of our country that has survived to the present day by remaining silent for centuries. The main source of its content is the new data obtained from the Kibyra excavations and researches that were initiated in 2006 on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University and are still ongoing. Since the target audience of the book is everyone who is curious or interested in an archaeological and historical area, visuals as rich as possible are also included in addition to the text. Each section, presented under certain main headings that define the ancient city from general to specific, consists of the text enriched by indicating its references first and the visuals related to that section at the end, and explanatory notes are written under each visual.
Naturally, an archaeological excavation is carried out with the participation and support of many stakeholders, not only from the academic community, but also from different fields. Since we cannot mention all these stakeholders and participants one by one, we have to suffice with mentioning especially the basic institutions and organizations and those who provided “life water” for the revival of Kibyra. In this way, our expressions of gratitude and appreciation will cover every respected official and interested person who has served throughout the process.
